On the 11th day of Xmas my longarmer gave to me - the best advice - to wait and buy backing until after your quilt top is finished.
Two different reasons I say that. #1 being - so you can measure your ACTUAL quilt and not guess. #2 so you can think about what thread color you would like to quilt your quilt with - because sometimes from the fabric yardage you start with to completing cutting and sewing the finished quilt top, the color you thought would stand out the most, might not. If you decide to have a longarmer quilt it, go with something more solid or a tone on tone print that would show off the quilting, complimenting the thread color - you are paying for the quilting after all. If you decide to quilt it, and want to hide all your quilting, pick a very busy backing print.
If you have to purchase the fabric ahead of completing the quilt top, because you want to use that specific fabric line and worry it will run out of stock before you complete the quilt top - just make sure to buy at least one extra yard. With that extra yard, if you end up having left overs - think about making a coordinating pillowcase or two to go with the quilt .. or a tablerunner or wallhanging.
My Amazon Gift Suggestion of the day ... keyboard covers. I get SO many compliments on my laptop keyboard color. This one I have, is rainbow and literally cost me $2.99 from Amazon. Now it will depend on your laptop model, and what color or style you want ... but still - most are under $10 and it is not only functional - of keeping the dust, finger oils from the keys and let's face it - crumbs out of the keyboard/cracks - but also, it is SO pretty to look at!
***Just make sure if your model is not one of the two below - to go to the top of the Amazon website and search for keyboard cover and your brand and model number of your computer (I.E. MacBook Pro 13" 2014 or Dell Inspiration 15 3000)
